Background / Experience: Director of Counseling for Neighborhood Health Clinics, Inc. for 10 years; site supervisor for graduate students and interns in counseling, social work and psychology; adoption and community mental health experience. In private practice since 1987.
Professional Interests / Specialties:
My primary focus is on working with individuals going through life transitions (beginning or ending a relationship, having children, starting or changing careers, dealing with loss, exploring gender or sexual identity, etc. or simply questioning current life patterns and directions). I am experienced in working with crossdressing and gender issues, and can provide documentation for hormones/surgery and support to individuals seeking gender reassignment and to their partners. I also work with gay and lesbian and heterosexual couples to achieve a better balance in their relationships. I have extensive cross-cultural experience (I was born in Europe and have lived in Asia, Europe and various parts of the U.S.), and am sensitive to the issues people face in adjusting to differences in cultural patterns and expectations. I also help with issues arising from cross-cultural and cross-racial adoptions, especially those relating to adopteesí search for personal identity.
